This week we're looking at how it feels to revisit published work after ten years, and plucking up the courage to face the cringe factor when looking back over your previous work. We look at Shefali's Substack post: A Ten Year Anniversary Redemption...
When Shefali approached the idea of producing a second edition of Murder in Marrakech 10 years after it was published, she faced the dilemmas that all artists and writers face when looking back over their work after a space of time.
Shefali talks about the challenging times in which she wrote the book originally, facing the cringe factor in re-reading the book, and revisiting the feedback and reviews that she received at the time. She also looks objectively at the book from the publishing, marketing and budgetary perspectives and talks about some of the modern challenges that authors face.
